Photos of smoky south-central Pennsylvania scenes
Tremendous amounts of smoke from Canadian wildfires are making for some interesting and sometimes strange sights in south-central Pennsylvania.
WGAL viewers and uLocal members have been sharing their photos with us of what they’re seeing. You can see a montage of them in the video player above.
While the smoke can make for some colorful photos, the air is hazardous right now.
A code-red air quality alert is in effect, meaning that pollution concentrations are unhealthy for everyone.
Crews in Canada are keeping an eye on 400 active fires – more than 150 in Quebec alone.
The National Aeronautics and Space Administration reports some of those fires were started by lightning strikes.
At least 26,000 people have been forced out of their homes so far.
